Aleksandra Vessig raises without love a child born from the body of a woman who died two thousand years earlier. Forty-two years later, the Eptich awakens and entrusts Inna Amedo with twelve thousand coordinates hidden in the Garden.

Safasta Murro takes the Naga towards Eliantir for a clandestine exchange. But the cargo, the men waiting to receive it and an approaching hurricane conceal something that no one aboard is able to understand.

“We live a suspended life,” Telli confirmed through a flood of tears.
“Does that seem fair to you?!” she said in a strangled voice, forcing out every word,
no longer able to hold back the underground river of anger that ran
through the ruined city. Choked by that emotion, she moved to strike him;
and he would have let her, but all that came of it was an awkward,
fierce embrace that seemed never to end.
The intimacy Meros and Telli had failed to experience when they had found themselves
in bed together, they finally experienced now.
It tasted of asphalt, because both of them carried the entire weight of their people on their backs.
THE SHELF OF WAR
Meros Delastivére arrives in Kithum on behalf of the Academy and tries to reconstruct everything that happened during the attack.
Telli, a survivor, agrees to accompany him into the New City.
AHANIA
Someone finally decides to enter Aleksandra Vessig's dwelling, and Ahania is expelled into ordinary time.
THE PEOPLE OF THE VOID
Kurt follows Ahania into Eliantir and reaches a bridge that will take him six days to cross.
